How to Cancel a Hosting Plan

If you need to cancel a hosting plan with dotCanada, you can submit a cancellation request through your client area. Here's what you need to know before you do.

Before You Cancel

  • Back up all of your website files, databases, and emails. Once a plan is cancelled and the grace period ends, your data will be permanently deleted.
  • Make sure any domain registrations you want to keep are not set to auto-renew with the same plan.
  • Review your billing cycle - cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period unless you request immediate cancellation.

How to Submit a Cancellation Request

  1. Log in to your dotCanada client area.
  2. Go to Services and select the hosting plan you want to cancel.
  3. Click Request Cancellation.
  4. Choose whether you want the cancellation to take effect at the end of the billing period or immediately.
  5. Provide a reason for cancellation (optional but appreciated).
  6. Submit the request. You'll receive a confirmation email.

What Happens After Cancellation?

Your service will remain active until the cancellation date. After that, your hosting environment will be decommissioned and your data will be held briefly during a grace period before being permanently removed.
