How to Restore an FTP Account Using JetBackup
If an FTP account was accidentally deleted or its settings were changed, you can restore it through JetBackup without affecting anything else on your hosting account.
Steps to Restore an FTP Account
- Log in to cPanel and open JetBackup from the Files section.
- Click FTP Accounts in the JetBackup dashboard.
- Find the FTP account you need to restore in the list.
- Select the backup snapshot date you'd like to restore from.
- Click the restore icon and confirm when prompted.
JetBackup will restore the FTP account with the settings it had at the time of the selected backup.
What Gets Restored
Restoring an FTP account recovers:
- The FTP username
- The home directory path the account was restricted to
- Account settings stored at the time of backup
Note that FTP account passwords are stored as encrypted hashes and may not be fully restored. If the account connects but the password no longer works, you can reset it in cPanel under FTP Accounts.
After the Restore
Once the FTP account is restored, test the connection using your FTP client (such as FileZilla) with the original credentials. If the password needs to be reset, go to cPanel > FTP Accounts and update it there.
