How to Restore a Database User Using JetBackup

If a database user account has been accidentally removed or its privileges changed, you can restore it using JetBackup without having to restore the entire database or account.

What Is a Database User?

A database user is the account your website application uses to connect to a MySQL database. Each user has a username, password, and a set of privileges that control what it can do. WordPress, for example, stores its database credentials in the wp-config.php file.

Steps to Restore a Database User

  1. Log in to cPanel and open JetBackup from the Files section.
  2. Click Database Users in the JetBackup dashboard.
  3. Find the database user you need to restore from the list.
  4. Select the backup snapshot date.
  5. Click the restore icon and confirm when prompted.

JetBackup will restore the database user and its associated privileges from the selected snapshot.

After the Restore

Once the database user is restored, verify that your website can connect to its database correctly. If your site is showing a database connection error, check that the username and password in your application's configuration file match the restored credentials.

For WordPress, you can verify the credentials in public_html/wp-config.php.
