How to Set Up a WooCommerce Store
After installing WooCommerce, you need to configure your store settings before adding products and accepting orders. dotCanada’s hosting environment supports all WooCommerce features out of the box, including secure checkout with SSL.
General Settings
- Go to WooCommerce > Settings > General.
- Set your Store Address, Selling Location (countries you sell to), and Currency. Canadian stores should set currency to Canadian Dollar (CAD).

- Go to the Tax tab and choose whether prices are entered inclusive or exclusive of tax.
- Add your tax rates under Tax > Standard Rates. For Canadian stores, you will need to add the applicable federal and provincial rates.

Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Emails to review and customize the automated emails WooCommerce sends for new orders, order status updates, and customer account activity. Update the sender name and address to match your business.
Checkout Settings
Under WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced, verify that the Cart, Checkout, and My Account pages are assigned correctly. Ensure your checkout page is served over HTTPS — your dotCanada SSL certificate handles this automatically.
