How to Log Into the WordPress Admin Dashboard

Once WordPress is installed on your dotCanada hosting account, you'll manage everything through the WordPress admin dashboard. Here's how to access it and what to do if you have trouble logging in.

How to Access the Admin Login Page

To log into your WordPress admin area, go to:

https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin

Replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name. You'll be taken to the WordPress login screen, where you can enter your username and password.

What to Do If You Forgot Your Password

1. On the login screen, click Lost your password?
2. Enter your email address or admin username.
3. Click Get New Password - WordPress will send a reset link to your admin email address.
4. Check your inbox (and your spam folder), then follow the link to set a new password.

Keeping Your Login Secure

• Use a strong, unique password for your WordPress admin account.
• Avoid using admin as your username - it's the first thing attackers try.
• Consider installing a security plugin like Wordfence or Solid Security to add login protection such as two-factor authentication and login attempt limiting.

Bookmarking Your Admin URL

It's a good idea to bookmark yourdomain.com/wp-admin in your browser so you can get back to it quickly. You can also access your dashboard from the front end of your site - when you're logged in, a black admin toolbar appears at the top of your website. Click Dashboard on the left side of the toolbar to go directly to your admin area.
