How to Install WordPress Using Softaculous

dotCanada makes it easy to install WordPress with just a few clicks using Softaculous, a one-click app installer built right into cPanel. You don't need to manually download WordPress, create a database, or edit configuration files - Softaculous handles all of that for you.

Before You Begin

• Make sure your domain is pointed to your dotCanada hosting account.
• Log into your cPanel account (your welcome email contains the login link).

How to Install WordPress

1. Log into cPanel and scroll down to the Software section.
2. Click Softaculous Apps Installer.
3. In Softaculous, find WordPress and click Install Now.
4. Choose the protocol - select https:// if your SSL certificate is active (recommended).
5. Select the domain you want to install WordPress on from the dropdown menu.
6. Leave the In Directory field blank if you want WordPress at your root domain (e.g., yourdomain.com), or enter a subdirectory like blog if preferred.
7. Fill in your Site Name and Site Description - these can be changed later.
8. Set a secure Admin Username, Admin Password, and Admin Email. Avoid using admin as the username for security reasons.
9. Choose your preferred language.
10. Click Install at the bottom of the page.

After Installation

Softaculous will set up your WordPress site in about a minute. When it's done, you'll see links to your new website and your WordPress admin area. Save these links - you'll use them often.

Your WordPress admin dashboard will be at yourdomain.com/wp-admin. Log in with the username and password you set during installation.
