How to Add Products in WooCommerce

Adding products is the core of running a WooCommerce store. Whether you sell physical goods, digital files, or variable items like clothing in multiple sizes, WooCommerce handles it all. Here is how to add your first product on your dotCanada-hosted store.

Creating a Simple Product

1. Go to Products > Add New in your WordPress dashboard.
2. Enter a product title in the top field.
3. Add a detailed product description in the main content area.
4. In the Product Data box below, select Simple product from the dropdown.
5. Set the Regular Price and optionally a Sale Price.
6. Under the Inventory tab, enter a SKU and enable stock management if needed.
7. Under Shipping, enter weight and dimensions for physical products.

Adding Images

• Click Set product image in the right sidebar to add your main product photo.
• Use the Product gallery section to add additional images.

Categories and Tags

Assign your product to a Product Category and add Product Tags in the right sidebar. Categories help customers browse your store, and tags improve searchability.

Variable Products

For products with options like size or colour, select Variable product from the Product Data dropdown. Go to the Attributes tab to define options, then create variations in the Variations tab.
