How to Configure WooCommerce Payments

To accept payments on your WooCommerce store, you need to connect at least one payment gateway. WooCommerce supports a wide range of options, from Stripe and PayPal to Interac e-Transfer through third-party plugins. dotCanada’s hosting is compatible with all major payment gateways.

Available Payment Gateways

• WooCommerce Payments — Stripe-based, available in Canada, managed within WordPress
• Stripe for WooCommerce — free plugin, supports credit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay
• PayPal Payments — free plugin, widely trusted by customers
• Square for WooCommerce — good for stores with both online and in-person sales

Setting Up Stripe

1. Go to Plugins > Add New and install the WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway plugin.
2. Activate it, then go to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments.
3. Click Manage next to Stripe.
4. Enter your Stripe API keys (found in your Stripe dashboard under Developers > API Keys).
5. Enable the payment method and save changes.

Testing Payments

Before going live, enable test mode in your gateway settings and use test card numbers provided by your payment provider to simulate a successful transaction and a failed one. Disable test mode when you are ready to accept real payments.
