How to Monitor Server Resource Usage in WHM
Monitoring resource usage helps you proactively manage your reseller account, spot problems before they affect clients, and plan for growth. WHM provides several tools for this purpose.
Server Information Overview
The WHM dashboard home page displays a quick summary of current server load, memory usage, and disk usage. This is your first stop for a health check.
Detailed Resource Usage Reports
- Go to Account Information then View Resource Usage
- This report shows per-account CPU usage, physical memory, virtual memory, entry processes, and I/O
- Accounts highlighted in red are hitting or exceeding their resource limits
Bandwidth Usage
- Go to Account Information then View Bandwidth Usage
- Select a month to see historical bandwidth consumption per account and for the server overall
CPU and Memory Monitoring
For real-time process monitoring, go to System Health in WHM. This shows current running processes and resource consumption similar to a server's top command.
Disk Usage
Check disk usage per account via Account Information then List Accounts - the disk usage column shows how much each account is consuming vs. its quota.
Setting Alerts
WHM can be configured to send email alerts when resource usage reaches certain thresholds. Check Server Configuration then Contact Manager to set up alert notifications.
If resource usage is consistently high, it may be time to upgrade your reseller plan. Contact our support team to discuss your options.
