How to Enable or Disable Features for Client Accounts

Feature lists in WHM let you control exactly what your clients can see and do within their cPanel accounts. This is a powerful way to simplify the cPanel experience for non-technical clients, restrict access to advanced tools, or differentiate between hosting tiers.

Creating a Feature List

  1. In WHM, go to Packages then Feature Manager
  2. Enter a name for your new feature list (e.g., Starter, Business, Reseller)
  3. Click Add Feature List
  4. You'll see a comprehensive list of cPanel features grouped by category
  5. Check the boxes for features you want to enable and leave others unchecked to disable them
  6. Click Save

Assigning a Feature List to a Package

When creating or editing a hosting package in WHM, select your feature list from the Feature List dropdown. All accounts assigned to that package will use the associated feature list.

Assigning a Feature List to an Individual Account

  1. Go to Account Functions then Modify an Account
  2. Find the account and change its feature list
  3. Save the changes

Common Features to Manage

  • Softaculous: One-click app installs (WordPress, etc.)
  • SSH Access: Restrict for basic hosting clients
  • Cron Jobs: Disable for very simple hosting accounts
  • Ruby on Rails / Python: Enable only for developer-focused plans
