How to Create and Manage Hosting Packages in WHM

Hosting packages in WHM are templates that define a set of resources - disk space, bandwidth, email accounts, and more - that can be assigned to client accounts. Using packages saves time and ensures consistency across your client base.

Creating a New Package

  1. Log into WHM and navigate to Packages then Add a Package
  2. Enter a descriptive Package Name (e.g., Starter, Business, Pro)
  3. Set resource limits: Disk Space (MB), Monthly Bandwidth (MB), Max Email Accounts, Max Databases, Max Subdomains, Max FTP Accounts, Max Mailing Lists
  4. Choose a Feature List to control which cPanel features are available
  5. Set the maximum hourly email send rate if needed
  6. Click Add to save the package

Editing a Package

Go to Packages then Edit a Package, select your package, adjust the settings, and save. Changes apply to all accounts currently assigned to that package - a convenient way to upgrade multiple clients at once.

Deleting a Package

Go to Packages then Delete a Package. Note that you cannot delete a package that is currently assigned to active accounts - reassign those accounts first.

Tips for Package Design

  • Create a few tiers (e.g., Starter, Standard, Business) to cover most client needs
  • Name packages clearly so clients and your team understand what's included
  • Leave some headroom in your totals - don't allocate 100% of your reseller resources
