How to Set Up Email in Apple Mail

Apple Mail is the built-in email client on macOS and works great with dotCanada email hosting. Here's how to add your account.

Steps to Add Your Account in Apple Mail

  1. Open Mail on your Mac.
  2. Go to Mail > Add Account in the menu bar.
  3. Choose Other Mail Account and click Continue.
  4. Enter your full name, email address, and password, then click Sign In.
  5. If Apple Mail can't auto-configure, enter the server details manually:
    • Account Type: IMAP
    • Incoming Mail Server: mail.yourdomain.com
    • Outgoing Mail Server: mail.yourdomain.com
  6. Click Sign In to complete setup.

Verifying Your Settings

After setup, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and confirm the following under the Server Settings tab:

  • IMAP port: 993 with TLS enabled
  • SMTP port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS)
  • Username: your full email address

Apple Mail will sync your inbox, sent items, and folders automatically via IMAP. If you experience any issues during setup, contact our support team - we're always glad to help.
