How to Set Up Email in Apple Mail
Apple Mail is the built-in email client on macOS and works great with dotCanada email hosting. Here's how to add your account.
Steps to Add Your Account in Apple Mail
- Open Mail on your Mac.
- Go to Mail > Add Account in the menu bar.
- Choose Other Mail Account and click Continue.
- Enter your full name, email address, and password, then click Sign In.
- If Apple Mail can't auto-configure, enter the server details manually:
- Account Type: IMAP
- Incoming Mail Server:
mail.yourdomain.com - Outgoing Mail Server:
mail.yourdomain.com
- Click Sign In to complete setup.
Verifying Your Settings
After setup, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and confirm the following under the Server Settings tab:
- IMAP port: 993 with TLS enabled
- SMTP port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS)
- Username: your full email address
Apple Mail will sync your inbox, sent items, and folders automatically via IMAP. If you experience any issues during setup, contact our support team - we're always glad to help.
