How to Set Up Email in Thunderbird

Mozilla Thunderbird is a free, open-source email client that works well with dotCanada email hosting. Follow these steps to get set up.

Steps to Add Your Account in Thunderbird

1. Open Thunderbird. If this is your first account, the Account Setup wizard opens automatically. Otherwise, go to File > New > Existing Mail Account.
2. Enter your full name, email address, and password.
3. Click Configure Manually if auto-detection doesn't find your settings.
4. Set the Incoming settings:
   • Protocol: IMAP
   • Server: mail.yourdomain.com
   • Port: 993
   • SSL: SSL/TLS
   • Authentication: Normal password
5. Set the Outgoing (SMTP) settings:
   • Server: mail.yourdomain.com
   • Port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS)
   • Authentication: Normal password
6. Enter your full email address as the username for both servers.
7. Click Re-test to verify the settings, then click Done.
