How to Whitelist an Email Address or Domain

If legitimate emails from a specific sender are ending up in your spam folder, you can whitelist that address or domain to ensure their messages always reach your inbox.

Option 1: Whitelist in cPanel (SpamAssassin)

  1. Log in to cPanel from your dotCanada dashboard.
  2. Go to Email > Spam Filters.
  3. Click Show Additional Configurations.
  4. Under Whitelist (Emails Always Allowed), click Edit Spam Whitelist Settings.
  5. Click Add A New "whitelist_from" Item.
  6. Enter the email address (e.g., friend@example.com) or use a wildcard to whitelist a domain (e.g., *@example.com).
  7. Click Update Whitelist (whitelist_from).

Option 2: Create a Filter in Roundcube

  1. Log in to webmail at yourdomain.com/webmail.
  2. Go to Settings > Filters.
  3. Create a new filter with the condition: From - is equal to - sender@example.com.
  4. Set the action to Move to folder: Inbox (or Don't move to Junk).
  5. Save the filter.

Option 3: Mark as Not Spam

In Roundcube, if you find a legitimate email in your Spam folder, select it and click Not Spam. This helps train SpamAssassin to recognise similar messages as safe in the future.

If whitelisting isn't working or spam filtering seems overly aggressive, contact our support team for help adjusting your settings.
