How to Delete an Email Account
If you no longer need an email account, you can delete it from cPanel. Be aware that deleting an account is permanent - all emails stored in that mailbox will be gone.
Before You Delete
- Back up any important emails by logging into webmail and exporting them, or downloading them via an IMAP client.
- Set up a forwarder if you want emails sent to that address to continue reaching you.
- Update any websites, apps, or services that use this address to send or receive email.
Steps to Delete an Email Account in cPanel
- Log in to cPanel from your dotCanada dashboard.
- Go to Email > Email Accounts.
- Find the account you want to remove and click Manage.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Delete Email Account.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
The account and all its stored messages will be permanently removed. This action cannot be undone.
After Deleting
Any devices or email clients configured to use that account will start showing login errors. Remove the account from those devices to avoid repeated failed authentication attempts, which could trigger security responses on the mail server.
