How to Create and Manage Email Mailing Lists
cPanel includes a mailing list feature that lets you send a single email to a group of recipients. This is useful for newsletters, team announcements, or customer communication.
Creating a Mailing List in cPanel
- Log in to cPanel from your dotCanada dashboard.
- Go to Email > Mailing Lists.
- Enter a name for your list (e.g.,
newsletter) and select your domain. This creates an address likenewsletter@yourdomain.ca. - Set an admin password for the list and click Add Mailing List.
Managing Your Mailing List
Once created, click Manage next to your list to access the Mailman administration interface. From there you can:
- Add or remove subscribers
- Set subscription policies (open, moderated, or invite-only)
- Configure reply-to behaviour
- Review list archives
- Customise welcome and goodbye messages
Important Considerations
- Mailing lists count against your domain's hourly sending limits - if your list is large, sends may be throttled.
- For high-volume sending (thousands of subscribers), a dedicated email marketing service like Mailchimp or similar may be more appropriate.
- Always follow anti-spam best practices and Canadian anti-spam legislation (CASL).
