How to Use the Disk Usage Visualizer in cPanel

Running low on disk space? The Disk Usage tool in cPanel gives you a visual breakdown of how your storage is being used across your account - making it easy to identify what's taking up the most space and where you can free things up.

Accessing Disk Usage

1. Log in to cPanel at yourdomain.com/cpanel.
2. Go to the Files section and click Disk Usage.

Reading the Disk Usage Report

The Disk Usage page displays two main sections:

• Disk Usage Summary - bar charts showing usage for each top-level directory in your home folder.
• Directory Details - an expandable directory tree showing the size of each folder, allowing you to drill down into subdirectories.

Common space-consuming areas include:

• public_html - your website files, uploads, and themes
• mail - stored email if you're using your hosting email accounts
• logs - access and error log files that grow over time
• softaculous_backups - backups created by Softaculous

Freeing Up Disk Space

• Delete old or unused files through the File Manager.
• Remove old database backups you no longer need.
• Archive or delete old emails from your mail folders.
• Remove outdated Softaculous application backups.
• Compress large files or folders using the File Manager's compression tool.
