What Is cPanel and How Do I Access It?

cPanel is the industry-standard web hosting control panel that dotCanada provides with every shared and reseller hosting account. It gives you a graphical interface to manage every aspect of your hosting - from email addresses and databases to files, domains, and security settings - without needing to use the command line.

How to Access cPanel

dotCanada offers a few convenient ways to log in to your cPanel account:

1. Through the Client Area: Log in to your dotCanada account at dotcanada.com, navigate to your hosting service, and click the Log in to cPanel button. This method uses single sign-on, so no separate password is required.
2. Direct URL: Visit https://yourdomain.com/cpanel or https://yourdomain.com:2083 in your browser, replacing yourdomain.com with your actual domain name.
3. Direct IP: If your domain is not yet pointed to our servers, you can use the server IP address provided in your welcome email followed by :2083.

Logging In

When prompted, enter the cPanel username and password that were included in your hosting welcome email from dotCanada. Your username is typically a short version of your domain name. Passwords are case-sensitive, so make sure Caps Lock is off.

Keeping Your Login Secure

We strongly recommend changing your cPanel password after your first login and using a strong, unique password. You should also ensure you are accessing cPanel over a secure https:// connection at all times.
