How to Change Your cPanel Password

Keeping your cPanel password secure is an important part of protecting your website and hosting account. dotCanada recommends using a strong, unique password and updating it regularly. Here is how to change your cPanel password in just a few steps.

Method 1: Change Your Password Inside cPanel

1. Log in to your cPanel account.
2. In the top-right corner, click on your username or the user icon to open the account menu.
3. Click Password & Security.
4. Enter your current password in the first field.
5. Enter your new password in the next two fields. Use the password strength meter to ensure your new password is rated as Strong or Very Strong.
6. Optionally, check the box to update your FTP and email account passwords to match, if desired.
7. Click Change your password now! to save.

Method 2: Reset via the dotCanada Client Area

If you have forgotten your cPanel password and cannot log in, you can reset it through your dotCanada client area:

1. Log in to your dotCanada account at dotcanada.com.
2. Navigate to your hosting service.
3. Look for the option to Change Password in the hosting management panel.
4. Enter and confirm your new password, then save the change.

Tips for a Strong Password

• Use at least 12 characters.
• Include a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
• Avoid using personal information such as your name or birthdate.
• Never reuse passwords across different accounts.
