How to Use Softaculous to Install Applications

Softaculous is a one-click application installer built into your dotCanada cPanel account. It makes it incredibly easy to install popular web applications like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, and hundreds more - without any manual setup or technical expertise.

Accessing Softaculous

1. Log in to cPanel at yourdomain.com/cpanel.
2. Scroll to the Software section and click the Softaculous Apps Installer icon.
3. Softaculous will open and display a library of available applications organized by category.

Installing an Application

1. Search for or browse to the application you want to install (e.g., WordPress).
2. Click the application name, then click Install Now.
3. Fill in the installation details:
   • Choose Protocol - select https:// if you have SSL installed.
   • Choose Domain - select which domain or subdomain to install on.
   • In Directory - leave blank to install at the root, or enter a folder name (e.g., blog).
   • Admin Username and Password - set secure login credentials.
   • Admin Email - enter a valid email address for notifications.
4. Click Install and wait for Softaculous to complete the process (usually under a minute).

Managing Installed Applications

From the Softaculous dashboard, you can view all installed applications, update them to newer versions, create backups, clone installations, and remove them when no longer needed. Keeping your applications up to date through Softaculous is an easy way to stay secure.
