How to Add a Navigation Menu in SiteJet
A clear navigation menu helps visitors find what they're looking for quickly. SiteJet includes a navigation element that you can customize to include the pages and links most important to your site.
Where Navigation Menus Appear
Most SiteJet templates include a navigation menu in the header at the top of every page. This is the most common placement, but you can also add menus to your footer or other areas of your site.
Editing the Navigation Menu
- Open the SiteJet editor from cPanel > Website > SiteJet Builder
- Click on the navigation element in your header to select it
- A menu editor or settings panel will appear on the right or in the sidebar
- From here, you can add, remove, or reorder menu items
Adding Menu Items
To add a page or link to your navigation:
- Click Add Item or the + button in the navigation editor
- Choose a page from your site, or enter a custom URL (for external links)
- Give the item a label - this is the text visitors will see in the menu
Creating Dropdown Menus
If your site has many pages, you can organize them with dropdown submenus:
- Drag a menu item slightly to the right under an existing item to make it a child (dropdown)
- This creates a hierarchical menu structure that keeps navigation tidy
Showing and Hiding Pages in the Menu
Not every page needs to appear in your navigation. You can control this from the Page Manager - each page has a setting to show or hide it from the menu.
Mobile Navigation
SiteJet automatically converts your navigation into a mobile-friendly menu (often a hamburger icon) on smaller screens. You can preview how it looks by using the device preview buttons in the top toolbar.
