How to Create Your First Email Address

One of the great perks of hosting with dotCanada is the ability to create professional email addresses using your own domain - for example, hello@yourdomain.ca. Here is how to create your first email account in cPanel.

Step 1: Log Into cPanel

Access cPanel through the client area at clients.dotcanada.com or using the direct link from your welcome email.

Step 2: Open Email Accounts

In cPanel, scroll to the Email section and click Email Accounts. This is where you can create and manage all email addresses on your account.

Step 3: Create a New Account

  1. Click Create to open the new account form
  2. Enter your desired email address in the Username field (for example, info or hello)
  3. Select your domain from the dropdown if you have more than one
  4. Set a strong password for the account
  5. Set a mailbox quota or leave it at the default
  6. Click Create to finish

Accessing Your Email

You can check your email in two ways:

  • Webmail: Log in at webmail.yourdomain.com using your full email address and password. dotCanada uses Roundcube webmail.
  • Email Client: Configure an app like Outlook or Apple Mail using the IMAP/SMTP settings found in cPanel under Email Accounts.
