How to Manage SSL Certificates in cPanel

SSL certificates encrypt the connection between your website and its visitors, protecting sensitive data and boosting trust. dotCanada's cPanel includes tools for managing SSL certificates, including free automatic certificates through Let's Encrypt.

Viewing Installed SSL Certificates

1. Log in to cPanel and go to the Security section.
2. Click SSL/TLS.
3. From here you can manage certificate keys, certificate signing requests (CSRs), and installed certificates.
4. To see all certificates and their status across your domains, click SSL/TLS Status (under the Domains section in some cPanel versions).

Installing an SSL Certificate

If you have purchased a third-party SSL certificate:

1. Go to SSL/TLS and click Manage SSL Sites.
2. Select your domain and paste in the certificate, private key, and CA bundle provided by your certificate authority.
3. Click Install Certificate.

AutoSSL (Free Let's Encrypt)

dotCanada provides AutoSSL powered by Let's Encrypt, which automatically issues and renews free SSL certificates for your domains. In most cases, your domains will be secured automatically within minutes of your account being set up. You can check the status under SSL/TLS Status and manually trigger renewal if needed.

Tips

• Always ensure HTTPS is working before forcing redirects.
• Certificates issued by AutoSSL renew automatically - you do not need to do anything.
• If a certificate is not issuing correctly, it may be a DNS or domain verification issue.
