How to Delete a Page in SiteJet
Deleting a Page in SiteJet
Over time you may find that some pages on your dotCanada-hosted website are no longer needed. Deleting unused pages keeps your site organized and avoids confusing visitors or search engines with outdated content.
Steps to Delete a Page
- In the SiteJet editor, open the Pages panel from the left sidebar or top navigation.
- Locate the page you want to remove in the page list.
- Click the three-dot menu next to the page name (or right-click it) to reveal the options.
- Select Delete from the menu.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted. Note that this action is permanent - the page cannot be recovered once deleted.
Before You Delete
- Check for links: If other pages link to the one you're deleting, update those links first to avoid broken links on your site.
- Check your navigation: If the page appears in your menu, remove it from the navigation before or after deleting.
- Consider SEO impact: If the page was indexed by search engines, set up a redirect from the old URL to a relevant page to preserve SEO value. This can be done via dotCanada's cPanel using redirect tools.
Hiding a Page Instead
If you're not sure whether to fully delete a page, you can hide it instead. In the page settings, toggle its visibility off. The page will remain in your editor but won't be accessible to visitors or indexed by search engines.
