How to Change Your cPanel Password

Changing your cPanel password regularly is a good security habit, and it's essential if you suspect your account may have been compromised. There are two ways to change your cPanel password at dotCanada.

Method 1: Change from Within cPanel

1. Log in to your cPanel account.
2. Click your username in the top-right corner and select Password & Security.
3. Enter your current password, then enter and confirm your new password.
4. Use cPanel's built-in password strength meter to ensure your new password scores well.
5. Click Change Your Password Now.

Method 2: Reset from the Client Area

If you're locked out of cPanel or have forgotten your current password:

1. Log in to the dotCanada client area at dotcanada.com.
2. Navigate to your hosting account and look for the option to reset your cPanel password.
3. Enter and confirm your new password and save the changes.

Password Best Practices

• Use a unique password that you don't use for any other service.
• Aim for at least 16 characters with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.
• Store it in a password manager like Bitwarden or 1Password.
• Consider enabling two-factor authentication for added protection after changing your password.
