How to Install a Purchased SSL Certificate in cPanel

If you've purchased an SSL certificate from dotCanada or a third-party certificate authority (CA), you'll need to install it manually through cPanel. Here's how to do it step by step.

Step 1: Generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR)

1. Log in to cPanel and go to Security › SSL/TLS.
2. Click Generate, view, or delete SSL certificate signing requests.
3. Fill in your domain name, company details, and contact information, then click Generate.
4. Copy the CSR text and submit it to your certificate authority to receive your certificate files.

Step 2: Install the Certificate

1. In cPanel, go to Security › SSL/TLS.
2. Click Manage SSL sites.
3. Select your domain from the dropdown menu.
4. Paste your Certificate (CRT), Private Key (KEY), and Certificate Authority Bundle (CABUNDLE) into the appropriate fields.
5. Click Install Certificate.

After Installation

Test your certificate using an online SSL checker to confirm it's valid and trusted. You should also set up a redirect from HTTP to HTTPS so all visitors use the secure version of your site.
