How to Host Multiple Websites on One Shared Hosting Account

You don't need a separate hosting account for every website you run. dotCanada shared hosting plans support Addon Domains, which let you host additional websites - each with their own domain name and file directory - all from a single cPanel account.

How to Add a Domain

1. Log in to your cPanel account.
2. Navigate to Domains and click Addon Domains (or simply Domains on newer cPanel versions).
3. Enter the new domain name you want to host.
4. cPanel will automatically suggest a subdomain and a folder in your public_html directory (e.g., public_html/example.ca).
5. Click Add Domain to create it.

Pointing Your Domain

For the new domain to load your site, its DNS must point to your hosting account. If the domain is registered with dotCanada, you can update the nameservers or DNS records from your client portal. If it's registered elsewhere, update the nameservers to point to dotCanada's servers.

Things to Keep in Mind

• All addon domains share the same resource pool (CPU, RAM, disk, bandwidth) as your primary account.
• Each addon domain gets its own file directory, so websites are kept separate.
• Databases and email accounts are shared across all domains under the account.
